  • Lodging - your home for the weekend will be the venerable Pinecrest Inn. Opened in 1913 the Inn was purchased by Donald Ross who owned it until his death in 1948. The current owners, the Barrett family, have owned the Inn since 1961. As "M & M" describes it, "Staying at the Pinecrest is like being on scholarship". You would be hard pressed to find better food, service and hospitality anywhere.

The hallways of the Pine Crest have been graced by the likes of Bobby Jones, Henry Cotton, Francis Ouimet, Annie Oakley, Frank Stranahan, Harvie Ward, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Crenshaw, Roger Maltbie, Curtis Strange, Payne Stewart, and Cory Pavin, just to name a few. Baseball greats Sparky Lyle, Graig Nettles, Ralph Houk, Lew Burdette, Tommy Davis, and Warren Spahn all visited in 1992 while participating in a local golf outing.

  • Dinner was mentioned on the schedule and you are going to see several options. The PCI is the first and most obvious and will serve as our Friday and Saturday night fine dining hosts. Honestly, the filet offered up by the Pinecrest is worth the trip alone without playing golf. There just aren't many places you'll get a finer piece of beef for dinner. Don't worry about lunch, you'll be busy enjoying a fall round of golf with a few of your best friends and won't have time to eat.

  • Do you like Italian food? Real, authentic Italian food, made with love and passion? If so, then you'll love Vito's Restaurant in Southern Pines. This little gem of a place has become a Thursday night ritual for the early birds and is well worth the trip. Vito's is to Italian what the PCI is to beef.

  • Entertainment - aside from the comradarie offered by multiple rounds of golf, adult beverages and shared meals with old friends the Pinecrest Inn offers Mr. B's Lounge and the ever popular chipping board. The chipping board is highly popular among guests of the Inn. Legend has it that during the '99 US Open players became so competitve that it wasn't long before money was changing hands like a woman changes her mind and players were eventually taking shots from across the bar room and into the lobby.

According to the PCI General Manager the record for consecutive shots made in an alternating shot format was 27 by Ben Crenshaw. Think you can hang?

  • As mentioned on the Schedule page those that are interested will meet at the Pinehurst Golf Club for pictures with Payne and Pre-BGO morning Libations around 10:00 AM Friday October 16th. If you're a rookie make sure that you are going to the golf course and not the resort hotel for this event.

If you pull up and don't see a huge croquet lawn and a bunch of people in all white holding mallets you are in the WRONG place.
